See all summer programs →This summer, I had the opportunity to attend Tulane University's Explorations in Architecture and Design pre-college program, and it was one of my favorite experiences exploring architecture so far.
I took the Analog Design class, where I was able to explore architecture through hands-on design work and physical materials. I really enjoyed being able to create and experiment with my ideas instead of only learning about architecture through lectures.
The program was also really helpful for building my architecture portfolio. The projects I created gave me new work to include and helped me learn how to develop and present my ideas.
One thing I especially liked about the program was the workload. It was challenging enough to help me grow, but it wasn't so demanding that I couldn't enjoy the experience. I had time to explore New Orleans, meet other students, and actually have fun throughout the program.
Overall, I had an amazing experience at Tulane. It gave me a better understanding of architecture, helped me build my portfolio, and made me even more excited to continue exploring the field. I would definitely recommend it to other high school students who are interested in architecture and want to experience what studying it could be like before college.
